This very special cable television broadcast opens up modestly with a very familiar sight - it's Todd Pettengill standing inside the WWF TV studio in Stamford, Connecticut! With a wall of monitors behind him playing various clips of footage from The European Rampage Tour over the holidays, Todd welcomes us all with a smile.
Todd Pettengill: Hello, everyone and welcome to a very special broadcast in place of Raw this week as we look back on the historic European Rampage tour we held all across the continent over the holidays!! Some of the World Wrestling Federation's brightest stars signed up and made the journey overseas and the matches that resulted were nothing short of phenomenal! Let's not waste any time and let's get right into it! Our first match of the evening features the WWF European champion TAZ as he defends his title against JIM DUGGAN! This was originally booked as a non title match, however, Taz DEMANDED that the title be defended in Europe on this tour. Let's just see if that's a decision he ends up gravely regretting!
EUROPEAN TITLE MATCH
TAZ (c) vs. JIM DUGGAN
The first match of the tour featured the European champion Taz looking to ruin the debut of "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan.
Things started off violently as Duggan overpowered Taz in the tie-up and proceeded to pound him down with brutal double axe-handles to the back. We'd then see Duggan pull off a huge atomic drop followed by a clothesline, sending Taz down hard.
Later in the match the European champ came back strong by nailing Duggan with a huge belly to belly, followed up by a snap suplex before locking Duggan in an armbar.
After some heavy back and forth with both men beating the hell out of each other, Taz looked to take it home with a t-bone suplex and signaled for the Tazmission - however Duggan would scout it and take down Taz with a huge shoulder block out of nowhere.
Duggan would wait for Taz to get to his feet before charing towards him with all his strength and nailing the Three Point Stance Clothesline. Duggan was about to go for the cover when from out of the crowd popped ROB VAN DAM and SABU to run into the ring and attack the red hot "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, prompting the referee to call for the bell and Jim Duggan announced the winner, although not the new champion as titles do not change hands by disqualification! Team Taz adds insult to injury, laying out Hacksaw with a beatdown after the bell.
WINNER BY DISQUALIFICATION: Jim Duggan
An old revolver sound is heard over the arena speakers followed by A cowboy western like theme music is played throughout the arena and out walks the familiar face of Sunny with two men who are donning Cowboy Hats with vest, cowboys boots and jeans. One of the guys walk ahead as Sunny is escorted down to the ring with the blonde headed guy as he has her arm around her. Sunny then is lifted up on too the apron by the two cowboys. Sunny is posing on the apron donning a cowboy hat herself with a leather top and short jean shorts looking like a modern day blonde headed Daisy Duke. The Cowboys hop in the ring and open the ropes for Sunny to get in the ring. Sunny grabs the microphone and begins to speak.
Tammy “Sunny” Sytch: WWF you already know who I am. But now You’re gonna have to hold on tight, because this rodeo is about to get started. So without further a do I want to introduce you to my new boys. That’s right WWF fans feast your eyes on the new Kids in town in the tag team scene. These Cowboys that stand before you are the Gunn Brothers, The Smokin’ Gunns and these boys here are going to take the WWF by storm.
“Bodacious” Bart Gunn: Howdy WWF Fans Bart Gunn here, and my brother Billy and I can’t wait to strike it rich here in the WWF. Once we get into the saddle known as the Squared circle here in the WWF, we’re going Break In every and all challengers sent the Smokin’ Gunns way. And rest assure folks, My Brother and I never worry about bitin' off more than we can chew. Because as a pair we never had a rodeo we’re we haven’t been able to stay up in the saddle.
Billy ”The Kid” Gunn:Billy Gunn here and my brother Bart and I plan on grabbing the WWF by the horns, lassoing are opponents and Galloping to Greatness. Yeeeehaaaw!
The Smokin Gunns theme starts back up as Both Gunn Brothers go to the Middle rope and pose to the crowd making a signal with there fingers of Revolver Guns firing into the air as Sunny adoringly claps for the newEst Tag Team she manages in the WWF.
REPO MAN vs. HULK HOGAN
The second matched from the tour saw the conclusion to bitter feud between Hogan and Repo Man.
Hogan went to work right from the start of the match, showing a renewed fighting spirit as he devestated Repo Man with blow after blow, ultimately taking Repo off his feet and down to the canvas.
Repo Man would ultimately roll out of the ring to recoop but Hogan would follow, playing right into Repo Man's plan. Repo would kick Hogan in the midsection as he approached, and then viciously slam his head into the steel steps before rolling him back in the ring and getting a two count.
Later in the match Repo Man was still in control and dominated Hogan with an atomic drop and a running knee lift before getting another two count.
The end of the match would come as Repo Man had Hogan on his knees, just wailing away at the head of Hogan with rights and lefts. Finally Hogan had enough and began to psych up. Hogan now on his feet blocked the next big punch by Repo and laid into him with rights of his own now.
Hogan then grabbed Repo and lifted him up into a huge body slam. He then picked him up and irish whipped him into the ropes, connecting with the big boot on the rebound. Hogan signaled for the end, bounced off the ropes and then connected with his Leg Drop, hooking the leg and getting the three count. Your Winner - Hulk Hogan!
WINNER BY PINFALL: Hulk Hogan
The show cuts back to host Todd Pettengill in the studio.
Todd Pettengill: What action so far, right?! JIM DUGGAN with the upset and near title win over "The Human Suplex Machine" TAZ before his buddies jumped Duggan, we got a quick word from the WWF's newest tag team, THE SMOKING GUNNS, and HULK HOGAN finally has closed a very unsuccessful chapter in his career after well over a month of being embarrassed by REPO MAN with a huge decisive win over his dastardly foe! Maybe The Hulkster is primed for the main event? I know winning the World Wrestling Federation world title is still very much a top priority on his to-do list. Maybe even his new year's resolution? Speaking of... what is yours? You know, mine is I'm going to FINALLY get in the shape I've always wanted to. I'm gonna hit the gym, pump some iron... get that beach bod going on, you know? I even have a promise from Lex Luger to hook me up with his workout routine! You know the absolute best way to build the best you, though? It all starts with a foundation like ICOPRO and their industry leading supplements! Speaking of, here's a quick word from our sponsors, we'll be right back with more action!
COMMERCIAL BREAK #1
"Well, I hope that you've enjoyed your European vacation!"
The nasally and instantly recognizable voice of the one and only Jim Cornette is heard echoing throughout a small studio that is being used by the World Wrestling Federation for some promotional videos. The camera zoomed in on Cornette's face, his beady eyes peering at the lens through his Dahmer-style glasses. With small beads of sweat forming on his forehead, Cornette adjusted his tacky looking coat and began to do what he does best.
Jim Cornette: While you imbeciles are away galivanting through Europe like a bunch of college-aged girls, I've been hard at work stateside, doing what I do best and that's scouting a little thing called professional wrestling. And it just so happened that I found the man that will put an end of the shenanigans that plague this company! That's right, ladies and gentlemen. James E. Cornette has searched the world around and I am excited to present to you the man that will rock the very foundation that the World Wrestling Federation is built upon! After I present my newest client, everything changes! Because from this moment on .. each and every single one of you princess superstars are being put on notice! From every goofball in the New World Order, to the midget with a Napoleon complex - yeah, I'm talkin' about you, Taz - .. to the morons who believe their own hype a bit too much like you, Hitman .. ALL OF YOU ARE ABOUT TO BE PUT ON NOTICE!
Cornette takes a moment and pauses, smiling and nodding at the camera. He adjusts his collar and continues to rant a bit more.
Jim Cornette: Let me tell you something right now, folks - my newest client is going straight to the top of the World Wrestling Federation and I promise you there isn't a damn thing that any of you can do about it. So, without much further adieu, allow me to introduce to you my newest client. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you ... YOKOZUNA!
The camera pans back and we see the massive Yokozuna standing at the side of Cornette. Yokozuna is breathing heavily and has a mean scowl on his face, as he intensely stares into the camera. Donning his red mawashi, Yokozuna's sheer size was a sight to see. Standing by the Japanese monster was his handler, known only as Mr. Fuji.
Jim Cornette: Yokozuna is about to be unleashed on the World Wrestling Federation, and the pain and destruction that is about to be rained down on the members of the WWF roster will be indescribable! Folks, I want you to strap in, because Yokozuna is about to take this company by storm, and squash you all like the little piss-ants that you are! Welcome to your bitter end!
Yokozuna, huffing and puffing, placed his massive hand on the shoulder of Cornette and pushed him back, clearly wanting to say something. Yoko was clearly angry, but that was par for course. Yokozuna bellowed and yelled at the camera.
Yokozuna: BANZAI!!!
The trio of men stood and stared at the camera, as we cut away from the lasting image of Yokozuna screaming at the camera.
RIC FLAIR vs. VADER
The next match of the tour saw Ric Flair battle Vader.
Out of the tie-up Vader tried to use his strength to his an advantage as he lifted Flair up into a gorilla press position, however Flair quickly poked the eyes of Vader and caused him to drop Flair. Flair would then go to work with brutal chops to the chest of Vader, backing him up into the corner before climbing to the middle rope and assaulting him with fist after fist as the fans chanted to ten along with every punch.
Later in the match Vader would come back strong after a huge shoulder tackle, almost sending Flair flying across the ring like a ragdoll. Vader would then pick up Flair and drop him with a huge belly to belly slam.
Flair, being the dirtiest player in the game would eventually regain control after a lowblow the ref didn't see, and he'd start to try and wear the big man down by working the legs and out wrestling Vader.
The ending would come however as Flair would strut around the ring in cocky fashion, giving Vader time to sneak up from behind and pull off a huge back suplex. Vader would then kneel down on top of Flair and begin to brutalize him with fists and elbows.
Vader then pulled Flair towards the turnbuckle, climbed it, and came off with a huge Vadersault, which Flair barely managed to roll out of. Both men were slowly getting up at the same time. Flair would throw the first punch, followed by Vader - fighting as they got to their feet.
Flair would seemingly get the advantage and try to irish whip Vader who reversed it, leading to HARLEY RACE grabbing Flair's leg from the outside to trip him up! Flair turned around, reaching down over the ropes trying to grab Race's hair in an attempt to pull his legendary foe up to the ring by his hair. Meanwhile, Vader set up for Flair. When he turned around he kicked Flair in the gut and hit him with the Vader Bomb!! Vader made the cover, Race hooking his feet over the ropes to secure the pinfall. Your winner, Big Van Vader!
WINNER BY PINFALL: Vader
The show cuts to Todd Pettengill who sits in a chair watching the match that just finished on a monitor. He has his hands covering his mouth in disbelief, lowering them when he notices the camera is filming him.
Todd Pettengill: WOW! What a match! Those two men just tore the house down and I think VADER has just possibly made the biggest statement of his entire career! Defeating The Nature Boy RIC FLAIR is indeed something to be proud of, no matter the way it was done. Also, we heard from the company's newest signing, YOKOZUNA! The destruction a man of THAT size is going to leave behind? SHEESH! Look everyone, it has been a night full of the best professional wrestling in the entire world. When you tune into the WWF you expect no less though, right? Now we look to cap it off with one heck of a main event as the noble "Excellence of Execution" BRET HART, despite very serious nagging injuries, decides to risk it all for the fans to step into the ring and face the nWo's DUSTIN RHODES with his WWF Television title on the line! Right after one last quick word from our sponsors we will take you down to the ring where Vince McMahon and Jerry "The King" Lawler are on the call! Ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for joining me tonight and enjoy the main event!
Todd Pettengill waves goodbye to everyone as the show fades into the second (and last) commercial break of the night.
COMMERCIAL BREAK #2
WWF TELEVISION TITLE MATCH
BRET HART (c) vs. DUSTIN RHODES
The final match of the tour was for the World Wrestling Federation TV Title as Bret Hart looked to defend against the newest nWo member - Dustin Rhodes!
Bret was the first to get any real advantage after a series of hold exchanges, as he took Dustin down with russian legsweep. He then went to work on the foot of Dustin with several stomps.
Bret would hold the advantage for quite a while, breaking Dustin down with a shin breaker and back breaker before going for a pin attempt, getting a quick two.
Dustin would later begin to fight back with a series of rights to the head of Bret before nailing him with a huge bulldog, getting a two count of his own.
The action would eventually spill outside of the ring with both men brawling on the ramp as the ref began the ten count. Dustin would get the better half of this exchange by lifting Bret up and dropping him ribs-first right on the guard rail. Dustin would slide in the ring, with Bret finally making it in himself right before the ref counted ten.
From there Bret would capitalize on a mistake by Dustin, and zero in on the legs again with a vicious knee drop on Dustin. Bret would then signal for the sharpshooter but Dustin would scout it and roll Bret up for another two count.
The end would come with an irish whip from Dustin, sending Bret into the ropes. Dustin would catch Bret on the rebound with a huge sidewalk slam. Dustin would then zero in on Bret's ribs again and pound away at them with fits and stomps, just brutalizing the Hit Man.
The end would come however as Bret would show his resiliancy and begin to fight back, eventually stunning Dustin with an atomic drop and then nailing a piledriver. Suddenly Hall and Nash made their way to ring side, both standing at opposite ends of the ring. Hall would then jump up on the apron, distracting the ref and Bret while Nash tossed brass knucks towards Dustin.
Bret would then turn around and walk towards Dustin only to be nailed between the eyes with the brass knuckles. Bret would fall down hard, completely out and Dustin covered for the one two three. Your Winner - Dustin Rhodes.
WINNER BY PINFALL: Dustin Rhodes
Jerry Lawler: He did it, McMahon! Dustin Rhodes is the new TV champion, the nWo is all gold now!!
Vince McMahon: Bret Hart gave it his all, King! He was already in terrible shape and Dustin took advantage of the situation. A strategy that worked wonderfully, watch how Bret is in pain!
The referee holds the Television Championship belt ready to hand it over to new champion Dustin Rhodes, but the latter does not seem to realize what is happening yet. He's still on the mat, brass knuckles conveniently hidden in his trunks and coming to his senses slowly as on the other side of the ring, the broken ribs Bret Hart writhes in pain, on the edge of agony.
Howard Finkel: Here is your winner, AND N-
Jerry Lawler: It still gives me goosebumps when I hear this music for Dustin Rhodes, he's nWo for life!
However, the music of the nWo doesn't start playing just for Dustin, but mostly for the WWF tag team champions, the Outsiders who are down at ringside, holding their titles and spray paint cans after helping Dustin secure his win. Scott Hall and Kevin Nash are greeted as enemies by the European crowd unsurprisingly and the champions respond by lifting their titles high in the air.
Vince McMahon: These two men are the worst thing that could have happened to the World Wrestling Federation this year, and unfortunately I feel their intentions for the next twelve months are not very good. What are they doing here again !!
The Outsiders finally begin to walk towards the ring as their partner and new TV champion Dustin Rhodes slowly but surely recovers on his feet, accepting his new championship belt from the referee in the process. Once the three men are reunited in the ring, the best tag team in the world congratulates their partner in crimes and the three members of the nWo make a pose that will make history for the camera as they proudly raise their championship titles above their heads.
Jerry Lawler: This is one moment that we will all remember, McMahon! The nWo era has begun in the WWF!!
Vince McMahon: You say it like it's a good thing and I don't share your opinion at all!
Then, Dustin Rhodes turns around and finds out that the former TV champion is still laying down, seriously injured. Hall and Nash also turn their attention to Bret Hart. The three badfellas look at each other, and Vince McMahon starts shouting at the commentary table.
Vince McMahon: NO! NO!! SOMEBODY'S GOTTA STOP IT BEFORE IT HAPPENS!!
Bret Hart, now on his knees, doesn't even have the strength to stand up, let alone defend himself. Hall and Nash walk up to him. They both grab him by one arm to raise him up to his feet. Dustin takes a few steps back, drops his TV title down the mat, puts himself in three-point stance position like in football and charges ... SPEAR!!! Bret Hart has just been hit by a freight train, big time!
Jerry Lawler: AAHHH!!! He just broke the Hitman in half!!
Vince McMahon: THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!!!
But it doesn't end there. Hatred is felt in England, fans start throwing trash, like beer glasses and leftover hot dogs, in the direction of the ring, at the nWo guys. Dustin drags poor Bret Hart into the middle of the ring, he grabs his legs and adds insult to injury by applying the Sharpshooter on the Hitman. Kevin Nash then takes the TV championship belt and places it down right in front of Rhodes. Scott Hall grabs a can of paint and inscribes the letters "nWo" on the belt plate, which makes Dustin , who is still holding the Sharpshooter, look proud of himself. Nash then grabs the spray paint can and walks over to the almost unconscious Bret Hart. He also sprays the "nWo" letters, but on Bret's back!. Rhodes finally releases the submission hold and picks up his newly won and freshly painted Television championship. Once again, the nWo has caused havoc. Hall reaches through the ropes and snatches the microphone out of Howard Finkel's hand.
Scott Hall: Your WINNER...and NEW...N Dubbya Oh...WORLD..TELEVISION CHAMPION...the NEW.."BIG DUST"...DUSTIIIN...RHOOODES!!!
Hall and Nash both nod and clap approvingly as the crowd continues responding with vitriol and various flying foreign objects.
Scott Hall: Now Dust'...you've just single-HANDEDLY...excellently EXECUTED one of the best technical wrestlers in HISTORY...
Hall steps over and gives Bret one last boot in the shoulder, for good measure, before turning back to the new champion.
Scott Hall: Give us a few WORDS. Tell all our adoring PUBLIC out there...how you're feelin' right NOW...
Hall taps the microphone into the chest of Rhodes, who takes it as Scott steps back, drops to a knee, and points at Dustin with both arms extended.
Dustin Rhodes: I feel…
Dustin stops, slowly spanning his head over to his right to look at Scott Hall. Then to his left, glancing at Big Kev. Finally, he looks down at the beaten, battered and broken “Excellence of Execution”. He grins from ear to ear, satisfied with the new World order’s handywork. He raises his new TV title high in the air victoriously.
Dustin Rhodes: I feel like a CHAMPION! Hey Vince, what do you think about the TV title, pal? You like the nWo makeover? Huh?!
Dustin throws the microphone down, it landing with a thud on Bret Hart’s back. Dustin spits on the fallen Hitman and then walks over to the ropes right in front of the announce table, letting Vince McMahon get a closer look at the new nWo Television title! McMahon, visibly upset, stands up but is quickly held back by his broadcast partner Jerry Lawler as the show fades to black, various debris from the fans continuing to pelt the nWo and fill the ring.
