MONDAY NIGHT RAW #001
LIVE! from The Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, VA
The Monday Night Raw intro segues into the jam packed Richmond Coliseum where police sirens are blaring and lights flashing as fog machines fill the arena with smoke and fans are going wild, standing up and screaming with their various signs. The cameras focus in on signs for fan favorite babyfaces like Lex Luger, Hulk Hogan, Sting, Rocky Miavia and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin before turning to Vince McMahon who stands in the middle of the ring, microphone in hand.
Vince McMahon: Hello, everyone and WELCOME to Monday... Night... RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWW!!
The crowd gets even more pumped, volume raising to violent decimals.
Vince McMahon: Prepare for a show that's unlike one you've ever seen before! Saturday morning has the kid friendly Mania, but this is RAW, pal! And it's uncut... uncooked... and UNCENSORED! We've got six matches on the card here for you tonight, fans and it features some of the greatest in the world and it's highlighted by our main event of the night as STING goes one on one with "STONE COLD" STEVE AUSTIN! But speaking of some of the best in the world, let's bring out two of them right now as we kick off the first ever Monday Night Raw with RAVEN taking on the former European champion THE MOUNTIE one on one!
RAVEN VS. THE MOUNTIE
The first match of the night saw Raven square off against the law of Canada himself - The Mountie.
The match went back and forth for a good few minutes with both men getting strong offensives in. At one point in the match The Mountie even scored a near fall with a dangerous looking spike piledriver to Raven.
Raven would come back with a discus clothesline and a bulldog from the second rope nearly knocking The Mountie clean out.
Mountie would fight back however after the action spilled to the outside and would toss Raven shoulder-first into the steel steps before rolling him back into the ring for another near fall.
The ending came however with Raven taking control with a Russian leg-sweep. He signaled for the end and as soon as a worn out Mountie got to his feet Raven kicked him in the midsection and drove his head into the mat with the Evenflow. He then covered Mountie for the 1 2 3. Your winner - RAVEN!
WINNER BY PINFALL: Raven
Cameras cut to Vince McMahon and his Raw co-host Jerry "The King" Lawler at ringside in the announce booth.
Vince McMahon: What a way to kick off the show! And this Raven, King? You know I may not like the guy too much but there's no denying the talent that guy has. If I was a member of the WWF roster right now that's one name I would keeping in the back of my mind and watching everything he does. And then I would try to counter it.
Jerry "The King" Lawler: Yeah McMahon, but you see, the rest of the roster can think all they want, they're never gonna outsmart Raven, McMahon! They may just wanna avoid hurting their tiny little brains! Haha!
Vince McMahon: Anyways, folks... Raven is one to keep an eye on as I'm sure after that performance he very well may be seeking WWF gold! Maybe even the world title, who knows? But this is RAW and there's no slowing down because frankly we've got too much on the plate to offer up to you and we don't have time, we're about to take you into our next match of the night as we see the much awaited debut of MR. PERFECT! I'm excited for this one! His opponent? A so far winless REPO MAN! But although he's winless he's looked good in all of his matches. I think the stars just haven't aligned for him just yet, but who knows, this could be his night!
Mr. Perfect's music hits as the show rolls on to the next match of the night!
MR. PERFECT VS. REPO MAN
The second match saw the one and only Mr. Perfect square off against cunning Repo Man.
The match started off all Perfect as he took Repo to school with holds and locks most of the world has never seen before. Things soon turned around however after Mr. Perfect made a mistake - he took Repo too lightly and attempt to cover him with a simply boot. Repo easily kicked out and grabbed Perfectby the leg, tripping him.
From there Repo was able to mount a surprising offensive and drive not one, not two, not even three, but FIVE elbows right into the lower back of Mr. Perfect.
The match basically over from that moment. Mr. Perfect struggled to get up and when he did Repo caught him with a huge sidewalk slam for an easy 1 2 3 in a shocker of an upset. Your winner - Repo Man.
WINNER BY PINFALL: Repo Man
COMMERCIAL BREAK #1
“Mean” Gene Okerlund: What a night of action we’ve had so far! Standing with me now is a man who will be making his debut next week. Standing at six feet nine inches tall and weighing over three-hundred twenty pounds, this man may certainly make an impact here in the World Wrestling Federation. The man I’m talking about is none other than Sycho Sid. Now Sid, thanks for joining me. You certainly have size on your side, but the pool of talent in the WWF is better than it’s ever been. With that said, what are your thoughts on your upcoming debut?
The camera pans back just enough to show Sycho Sid towering over Mean Gene. With sweat dripping off his brow and a look of intensity radiating from his eyes, Sycho Sid begins speaking with a rather quiet tone of voice.
Sycho Sid: The talent is better than its ever been…
Mean Gene looks up at the towering Sid anticipating his response. Sid starts laughing. Gene raises an eyebrow, finding this response to be a bit...well, different. After Sid's laughing subsides, he begins speaking with great intensity and aggression.
Sycho Sid: WELL SO…AM…I! IT’S SIMPLE! It doesn’t matter who it is! Tall, short, fat or skinny, I don’t discriminate! Once I get my hands on my opponent, it’s only a matter of time before they start regretting their career choice! Many men have fallen to the hands of Sid, and next week will be no different! When I debut next week in that ring, I can guarantee that excruciating pain will be the only thing my opponent feels! And when the dust settles and you can see the lifeless carcass of the man who dared to try me, you will ALL come to understand one thing! The World Wrestling Federation’s FATE is SEALED. This company, and everyone in it, will have NO CHOICE but to accept their fate, and bow to me…to the master…and ruler...
Sid pauses for a moment and looks down at Mean Gene. Before he finishes his sentence, he leans down closer into the microphone and, with a near whisper, finishes his sentence.
Sycho Sid:…of the world.
OWEN HART AND JIM NEIDHART VS. MARTY JANNETTY AND THE 123 KID
with special guest referee Shawn Michaels
Next up we had exciting tag team action as The Hart Foundation faced Marty Jannetty and the 1 2 3 Kid! with Shawn Michaels as the special referee!
The match saw a ton of action and high spots from both teams. 1 2 3 Kid started off with Anvil in a power vs speed contest which showed the 1 2 3 Kid come out on top after a ducked clothesline and a HUGE spinning wheel kick.
The Kid was then able to climb the rope and come off with a beautiful moonsault to a a dazed Anvil, but only got a two after a pin break from Owen, which Shawn Michaels completely ignored.
Later in the match The Hart Foundation had come back with Owen getting the advantage on Jannetty with a Enziguri. Owen then went to work on Jannetty with an irish whip to the corner followed by a stiff clothesline on a stumbling Jannetty.
The ending to the action came when The Kid and Jannetty double clotheslined Owen out of the ring. The Kid then did a standing dropkick to Anvil, who turned around right into the Rocker Dropper by Jannetty, who was the legal man. The Kid then jumped to the outside to brawl with Owen to prevent him from entering the ring. Jannetty went for the cover but Michaels wouldn't count the three.
Jannetty got in Michael's face and a shoving contest began. Meanwhile Anvil had gotten up, grabbed Jannetty from behind and nailed him with a Flatliner Slam. He covered and Michael's counted a very fast 1 2 3 before Kid could run in. Your winners - The Hart Foundation.
WINNERS BY PINFALL: Owen Hart and Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart.
COMMERCIAL BREAK #2
Raw returns from commercial break as Vince and Jerry welcome everyone back.
Vince McMahon: Right before we went to commercial break we saw a preview of the Survivor Series intercontinental title match with that fantastic tag match between intercontinental champion and his tag team partner The 123 Kid against two thirds of the Hart Foundation in Owen Hart and Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart. Thanks to some... quiet frankly pathetic referee work from "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels we saw Owen Hart and Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart keep their momentum going as they overcame Jannetty and The Kid. Owen's definitely on a roll heading into his title match against Jannetty this Sunday night at Survivor Series!
Jerry "The King" Lawler: Yes he is! Maybe afterwards he can kick that loser brother to the curb too! And what about that interview with SYCHO SID, McMahon?! Talk about an intimidating presence... geez! And hey, speaking of intimidating presences... or at least guys that think they are, what's that midget TAZ been up to McMahon? You've got him on the phone or something don't you? I hear you over there! Is he still injured?
Vince McMahon: Yes that's right, Ladies and Gentleman, for the past couple of weeks TAZ has not been competing as rumour has it that he was out due to an injury. Joining us now from his dojo via Satellite, The Human Suplex Machine, Taz.
The scene then goes to Taz Dojo where he is seated in his office and is doing some paperwork while in the background there is a training session in progress.
Vince McMahon: Taz, we are live on the air right now. Can you hear us?
LIVE! via satellite
Taz: Yes Vince, I can hear you, I can hear you loud and clear.
Vince McMahon: Well I would appreciate that you take a look at us as we are conducting an interview.
Taz then gives out a sigh before he looks at the camera.
Taz: As you can see Vince, I am a very busy man, I have a dojo to run and I’m gracious enough to let you guys into my property. so make it quick.
Vince McMahon: Will you be able to explain to us what happened to you? Rumour has it that you’ve sustained an injury that required you to be out of action, is that true?
Jerry Lawler: I also heard that you went away because you were trying a method to raise your height! Ha-Ha!
Taz: Vince, if you can shut the mouth of “The King” I would explain my reason and if he makes one more “funny” joke, the first thing that I will do when I return, I will choke him out!
After a few seconds of Vince asking Jerry to behave, Taz continues to speak.
Taz: That’s right Vince, I was away to fix my shoulder and don’t even think for one second that it was done by the wrestlers from the WWF. This shoulder injury happened years ago and I avoid doing surgery because it will take my time away from the ring but recently, the injury has been more than a bother for me that I have NO CHOICE but to go for surgery.
Vince McMahon: I thank you for clearing the rumour Taz, now the next question is when will we see the return of Taz?
Taz: Don’t worry when I return but more of what I will do when I return.
Vince McMahon: Alright, what will you do when you return to action?
Taz: Simple, I’ll CHOKE anyone who’ll stand in my way! I heard that you have a woman as the European champion. Since you make this company a fair working environment, Chyna will not be spared as well and As for the Intercontinental Champion, Hey Marty, I see that you are trying to be a dual champion but what a shame if I took the title away from you before you could ever reach that would you?
He takes a short breather before he continues to speak.
Taz: But my ultimate goal is the one that Bret Hart is holding currently and that is the World Wrestling Federation Championship. Since your younger brother didn’t beat you, I shall be the one that takes the strap away from you in fact I don’ t care if I you lose it toOld Hulk and Roid Lex, I will choke them out and they can BEAT ME IF they can, SURVIVE, if I let you.
One half of the tag team champions, Dustin Rhodes' theme music hits as we take it back to the ring.
DUSTIN RHODES VS. TED DIBIASE
The next contest is one people wanted to see! The red hot Dustin Rhodes took on the evil Ted DeBiase.
Early in the match DeBiase showed he can still hang with the best of them as he dominated Rhodes with a massive double ax-handle and a text-book vertical suplex.
Later on Rhodes was able to bounce back by winning a brief toe to toe brawl and sending DeBiase hard into the turnbuckle head-first. He then slammed DeBiase down hard with a scoop slam.
The late match saw DeBiase with the upperhand again after a backwards diving fist drop. He went for the cover but only got a two. The ending came when DeBiase attempted the Million Dollar Dream but Rhodes was able to scout it and duck out. He spun DeBiase around and nailed him with the Lonestar State of Mind. Rhodes with the cover for the 1 2 3. Your winner - Dustin Rhodes!
WINNER BY PINFALL: Dustin Rhodes
The fans in the arena are still so abuzz from the action they've just witnessed that at first, they barely even notice a voice breaking in on the P.A. system over the Rhodes' music.
Voice: Help! Somebody HELP! VINCE!
Vince McMahon: What on Earth was THAT?..
Jerry Lawler: Well it sounded like Jim Ross...sounds like he's in some kind of TROUBLE..
Suddenly the curtain at the entrance way flies open and sure enough the WWF's head of talent relations, Jim Ross, stumbles out onto the stage in a state of panic. Bending over to momentarily catch his breath, Ross continues shouting into the microphone as the Rhodes' watch on in confusion from the ring.
Jim Ross: Vince! VINCE! They're back! Hall and Nash...THEY'RE BACK!
Vince McMahon: WHAT?! What is the MEANING of this?..
Jerry Lawler: Oh come on, McMahon, don't tell me you're going to fall for this song and dance AGAIN. Remember the last time J.R. claimed he was bringing Razor and Diesel back?!
Vince McMahon: Remember WHAT!?
Ross finally stands back up straight just in time for the curtain to fly open again, and this time it is Scott Hall who steps through, brandishing a baseball bat and sporting his signature toothpick. He raises a microphone to his mouth and bops his head as he struts out onto the stage.
Scott Hall: Retuuurn of the macks...retuuurn of the macks...
Jerry Lawler: AAAAAHHH!!
The fans go nuts as Hall tilts his head to the side and holds his arms out to the side. Ross throws his hands up in submission and slowly begins backing down the ramp, keeping his eyes locked on his pursuer as he begs for mercy.
Jerry Lawler: What are you gonna do NOW, McMahon!?
Vince McMahon: We need security out here, if anybody can hear me in the back, we need security out here NOW!!
Scott Hall: Look at all these cowboys...you know, that makes a lot of sense...'cuz all I smell around here is a bunch of bullsh..
Hall lowers this microphone just in time for the rest of his sentence to not be heard on live television. Dustin and Dusty Rhodes both put a leg through the ropes, ready to spring to Ross' defense when out of nowhere Kevin Nash appears at the bottom of the ramp and grabs JR from behind, putting his own baseball bat across Ross' throat and spinning him around to face the ring.
Vince McMahon: HEY! UNHAND HIM!
Nash lets out a maniacal laugh and pulls a microphone out from his back pocket as Hall joins him and turns to face the curtain he had just came through, holding his bat at the ready to attack anybody who might want to interfere.
Kevin Nash: So Dusty! Hey Dustin! What's it gonna be? What's the plan, now? Aren't you two so called tag champs going to come down here and save good ol' JR? Or maybe you're just like the rest! It's really pathetic, not a single guy in the back tried to stop us. Scott, you're right, it smells bad around here! You guys can help JR, but you're going to have to act like real champions. Not like your world champion who's got the belt because of his brother, and gets beaten up every week ever since. It's pretty simple. We're talking about JR here. His fate is in your hands, all you have to do is give us what we want!
Obviously, the pressure that Nash put on Jim's throat with his bat weakened him. He lets go and JR collapses to the ground. The big guy kicks him to the side to make sure he's still alive, he's moving. The fans are shocked as they loudly boo the Outsiders. Scott Hall turns around and he can be heard telling Nash "He's still valuable" with a laugh. Nash starts to watch the entrance in case someone comes to the rescue and Scott goes on to speak with a boot on Ross' backside.
Scott Hall: Tell ya what, tell ya what...we'll let good ole' Jim HOSS here go...and we'll let all you GOOFS out there in the audience watch the rest of the show...all YOU two gotta do...is give us a match at the Survivor Series...for those big gold BELTS!
Hall puts on a scared face and wiggles his fingers towards the Tag Team champions as they stand looking on from inside the ring, calculating their next move. Dustin looks to the ringside area and asks Howard Finkel for his microphone, to which The Fink gladly obliges.
Dustin Rhodes: What's the matter, huh? Daddy Turner finally find out about all of the millions Bischoff wasted on you two and kick you to the curb? Well, whatever the case may be... I'd say it's good to see the both of you back but like my daddy here always told me, your reputation and your word is all you've got, so I'm not one to tell a lie. Look, if a title match is what you want all you've gotta do is step up and ask for it like real men! Instead of assaulting a man with Bell's palsy and a fine taste for barbecue sauce and taking him as a hostage! Let him go and you two have got your match.
Scott Hall: You want us to let him go? Huh? We’ll let him go, won’t we, Big Kev?
Dusty leans over into the microphone in Dustin’s hand.
Dusty Rhodes: You better let him go, baby. You don’t wanna walk down this path if you will now, baby.
Kevin Nash nods his eyes yes with crazed eyes as Scott Hall bends down and grabs Jim Ross by the hair, pulling him up to his feet. He then shoves JR’s lifeless carcass over to Nash, who grabs him by the Neck, dropping his bat! Nash looks around, observing his surroundings and spots the announce table where Vince McMahon and Jerry “The King” Lawler sit. His eyes grow wide and he licks his lips as he advances the body of poor Jim Ross closer towards his target.
Vince McMahon: Wh...what is this? Is he coming over here?! IS HE COMING OVER HERE?!! Oh my --
Before McMahon can even finish his sentence, Jim Ross is up in the air for a Jackknife Powerbomb! He comes down just as quickly, smashing through the announce table, landing on wood and crt monitors! Sparks and glass flies everywhere from the destroyed monitors as Ross crashes, taking McMahon and Lawler with him! The crowd erupts as pandemonium ensues! Fire department officials and EMTs rush to Ross, McMahon and Lawler as fire extinguishers activate, covering the CRTs that have now started a small fire as well as the bodies of Ross and our Raw announce team. And the Richmond Police Department is darting down the entrance ramp, straight for Scott Hall and Kevin Nash! They take the duo into custody and cuff them as Dusty and Dustin Rhodes roll out of the ring and over to Ross, McMahon and Lawler to make sure they are okay. The two help McMahon and Lawler to their feet, pretty much unscathed apart from now being covered in fire extinguisher goo. Meanwhile, Jim Ross is convulsing as he is placed on a stretcher. And Raw goes to commercial break with the most horrific scene possible.
COMMERCIAL BREAK #3
Raw comes back from commercial break to find Vince McMahon and Jerry "The King" Lawler now sitting behind a destroyed desk, still smeared with fire extinguisher goo all over.
Vince McMahon: Well everyone, I can't guarantee an episode two but welcome back to MONDAY NIGHT RAAAAAAAAWWWWW! Before we went to the break we saw TED DIBIASE in a fantastic debut, just barely falling short in a great match against tag team champion DUSTIN RHODES and then also... what a story afterwards am I right, King?
Jerry Lawler: Oh.. uh... heh, it was a story alright, McMahon. A story better left off FORGOTTEN! But the bottom line is that KEVIN NASH and SCOTT HALL are back in the World Wrestling Federation and it seems they have a TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH THIS SUNDAY AT SURVIVOR SERIES!
Vince McMahon: Yes indeed they do! As if you needed any other reason to order Survivor Series, after what we just saw a moment ago and the tension there, that match will be one for the history books! Next up, ROCKY MIAVIA makes his big return against SHAWN MICHAELS!!
ROCKY MIAVIA VS. SHAWN MICHAELS
The fifth match of the night was something awesome to see as The Rock went up against "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels.
This match was truly back and forth almost the entire way through. HBK was the first to gain any real advantage with a teardrop suplex to The Rock followed by a top rope elbow drop for a two count.
Later in the match we saw The Rock bounce back with thunderous right hands to the face of HBK and a text-book fall-away slam, sending HBK down hard.
HBK however would not stay down too long and as The Rock attempted The People's Elbow, HBK rolled out of the ring to avoid it, making The Rock chase after him. Right before The Rock caught him, HBK grabbed Sherri and pulled her in front of him, before dating back into the ring. The Rock followed and was met with furious stomps by Michael's. Michael's would then signal for Sweet Chin Music, but suddenly The Rocker's music hit and Jannetty came out onto the ramp causing HBK to turn around and focus on him.
This gave The Rock time to get up, come behind and nail HBK with the Rock Bottom. The Rock covered, and scored that 1 2 3. Your winner - The Rock!
WINNER BY PINFALL: Rocky Miavia
A school bell rings over the shot as a black screen turns in to a recording of a playground, where children are playing, enjoying their break. A regular school, girls and boys, running, and laughing.
Voice: Beaten up by bullies.
Images of a child on the floor of a playground are shown, children surround him laughing.
Voice: Teased by the popular kids.
As a child walks along a corridor, carrying his books, they are knocked out of his hands by a passing group.
Voice: Chosen last for the team events.
The child sits alone, watching peers play a game of basketball.
Voice: What do you do? What do you do when all of your memories are like barbed wire wrapped around your skin? When as far back as you remember is just, hurt? What do you do?
Raven is shown for the first time, as the footage switches to inside the arena. He sits on a steel chair, alone in the locker room.
Raven: Taunted. Ridiculed. Insulted.
A montage of World Wrestling Federation superstars begins to play. All of them shown celebrating previous victories.
Raven: There is a dark underbelly of society. Where the bullies are celebrated because they proudly wear the Stars and Stripes. Where narcissists are put on a pedestal because they look a certain way and the misfits are left to rot. Exiled.
The final shot is of Raven. Raven left laying in the middle of the ring after his match last week where a distraction cost him.
Raven: Growing up, I use to close my eyes and pretended that I was someone like you. But that dream turned in to a nightmare. I now accept who I am. I accept the darkness. It consumed me, and now it will consume you too.
Raven stands from his chair, and stretches out his arms, his fists clenched.
Raven: Quote the Raven, nevermore.
The scene fades to black.
COMMERCIAL BREAK #4
Raw returns from commercial. Both Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler still look miserable to be here at this point in front of their broken desk covered in now dried up and caked on fire extinguisher goop.
Vince McMahon: Well fans, this has been one of the most eventful nights in the history of professional wrestling but now... it's nearing its close. Impressive return by ROCKY MIAVIA and some powerful words from RAVEN before we left off for commercial break but now it's the MAIN EVENT! Both men have momentum on their side tonight and a history between each other! Two of the greatest in the world are about to face off - it's STING versus STEVE AUSTIN - and it's NEXT!
STING VS. STEVE AUSTIN
The Main Event of the night saw the clash of two insanely popular superstars in Sting and Steve Austin.
This one was pure chaos. Austin started off hot and heavy in an aggressive assault on Sting. Austin began with furious right hands backing Sting into the corner and then laid into him with kicks and mudhole stomping.
Later on Sting was able to come back after ducking a clothesline by Austin and drilling him with a ddt. Sting would then keep the momentum going with an irish whip to Austin followed by a huge Stinger Splash in the corner, causing the fans to cheer loudly.
The ending of the match came when Austin was on the offensive after a Lou Thesz Press and thunderous right hands to Sting. He then picked Sting up and went for a kick to the midsection but Sting caught the boot, spun Austin around and nailed him with a neckbreaker. He then locked Austin in the Scorpion Death Lock and Austin had no choice but to tap. Your winner - Sting!
WINNER BY SUBMISSION: Sting
Sting celebrates his huge main event win with the fans at ringside as cameras cut to a word from Lex Luger.
As the scene opens up, the viewing audience is welcomed to a wide shot of Lex Luger who is sitting on a leather couch inside of his infamous lex express, with his arms resting on a pillow that was a top of his lap. He had a straight look on his face as he gazed in to the camera. All of the while the tinted window with two large stars on each frame that was directly behind him could be seen constantly showing different views as the bus went down the road. Taking a few moments to let this entire view settle in, Lex began to speak up
LEX LUGER: So here I am. Coming to you all live as I sit here on my couch, inside of the Lex Express, as right now my driver and I are traveling down the highway on our way to the city that's going to be hosting the World Wrestling Federation's annual thanksgiving spectacular, The Survivor Series. Which takes place less than a week away now, November 28th to be exact, exclusively on pay per view.
Lex states, plugging the pay per view, as well as bringing up the date that it occurs on. After saying what he did, he took a moment of pause, as the bigger picture of what was going on this week began to speak up again, addressing it to the masses as well.
LEX LUGER: But on top of that, it's also thanksgiving week, and this thanksgiving yours truly has a lot to be thankful for. I'm thankful to be back here in the world wrestling federation, i'm thankful be able to fly these red white and blue colors all over the country, I am thankful to have this bus to be able to travel around and meet and greet all of you out there who have given me your support, and most importantly i'm thankful to Gorilla Monsoon for gifting me another opportunity to win what I set out to win which is the world wrestling federation championship belt. And this coming Sunday, I plan to seize that opportunity. Because when this bus arrives curb side at that arena, i'm getting off of it, i'm coming down to that ring, stepping in between those ropes, and I don't care if it's Hulk Hogan or Bret Hart... one of you is gonna be tapping out in the rack... AGAIN and i'm gonna be the next world wrestling federation champion!
With these final words being spoken, the camera focus in on the straight but determined face that luger is sending it,. This would be the image that lead the scene to fade to a black screen.
