WWF Mania opens up in the basement of Titan Towers as we join Todd Pettengill for another action packed Saturday morning! Todd, smiling ear to ear, welcomes everyone back to the show.
Todd Pettengill: What's up, everyone? Todd Pettengill here again and it's lovely to see you all right back here for another episode of WWF MANIA! Last week we saw five great matches from New Orleans and this week we're turning up the heat with seven... yes, you heard me right, SEVEN matches from Atlanta, Georgia! And to top it all off, four of those matches are to determine who will compete next Sunday, live on Pay-Per-View at In Your House for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship! There's a ton on the slate for today's show, so let's not waste any time and kick it to ringside where we have Vince McMahon and Jerry "The King" Lawler down at ringside at The Omni to call all of the morning's action!
THE MOUNTIE VS. "STONE COLD" STEVE AUSTIN
In the opening contest we had The Mountie up against a very pissed off "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. As the bell rang we saw Austin immediately charge The Mountie, but The Mountie was ready for him and side-stepped him, allowing Austin to run right into the turnbuckle.
Austin staggered backwards and The Mountie grabbed him for a dangerous looking neckbreaker. Austin was down and holding his neck but The Mountie wasted no time. He picked Austin up and followed with a second neckbreaker. The Mountie picked Austin up once more and finished off with a brutal piledriver.
Austin had nothing left at this point in what was devestating assault by The Mountie. The match ended seemingly as quick as it began with The Mountie locking in his Carotid Control and it was lights out for Steve Austin. Your winner in DOMINATING FASHION - The Mountie.
WINNER BY SUBMISSION: The Mountie
RAVEN VS. MARTY JANNETTY
In the second match of the morning we saw "The Rocker" Marty Jannetty looking to keep his momentum alive as he looked to score a win over Raven.
As Raven made his way to ringside we saw Jannetty jump over the top rope and charge Raven on the ramp, connecting with a big cross body. Jannetty got up and grabbed Raven by the hair before kicking him in the midsection and planting him right into the steel ramp with The Rocker Dropper.
The fans went nuts with excitement and disbelief as Jannetty casually walked back to the ring and rolled under the ropes. Jannetty stood in the middle of the ring watching Raven lay on the ramp motionless as the ref counted the ten. Your winner by dominating count out - Marty Jannetty.
WINNER BY COUNTOUT: Marty Jannetty
We fade back into the studio where we join Todd Pettengill again. He swings his chair around away from the monitor he is watching the matches on to face the camera.
Todd Pettengill: Ouch! Two just dominating wins from The Mountie and Marty Jannetty to kick off the morning's action.
Todd places his finger over the earpiece in his right ear, listening to some instructions from the production crew.
Todd Pettengill: And I'm getting word that both Steve Austin and Raven are injured following those contests and will have to take time away from the ring. Terrible news for them, but nice to see The Mountie bounce back in impressive fashion and Marty Jannetty keep the momentum rolling as both go into In Your House looking to make a statement! Speaking of In Your House, it's LIVE next Sunday night! Call your local cable or satellite provider to order now because the action is going to be off the charts as the World Wrestling Federation blows the roof off of the BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama and we crown the first champions of the new era here in the World Wrestling Federation! There's still a ton of matches left to go for the morning, we'll be right back after this short commercial break!
COMMERCIAL BREAK #1
THE ROCK VS. DUSTIN RHODES
The Rock was up next as he looked to bounce back with a victory over "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes. The Rock took the early advantage with a quick snapmare and began stomping away at Rhodes. The Rock then followed up with a huge irish whip into the turnbuckle and as Rhodes staggered out, The Rock caught him with a clothesline so hard Rhodes almost flipped before crashing down to the mat.
Later in the match we saw Rhodes come back with a series of rights as he backed The Rock into the turnbuckle. He climbed to the second rope and began another assault to The Rock with big turnbuckle punches as the fans chanted in unison ONE TWO THREE FOUR FIVE SIX SEVEN EIGHT NINE TEN.
Rhodes got down, grabbed The Rock from the turnbuckle and attempted a huge atomic drop but The Rock blocked it and both men went for a clothesline at the same time and fell to the mat as the ref began to count.
The end of the match came as both men had made it to their feet. The Rock had caught Rhodes with a kick to the midsection and followed by his signature ddt. The Rock then attempted The People's Elbow which Rhodes rolled away from. The Rock grabbed Rhodes and attempted a back suplex but Rhodes reversed this as well, turned The Rock around and caught The Rock with his Lonestar State of Mind! The Rock fell for the 3. Your winner in an impressive showing - "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes.
WINNER BY PINFALL: Dustin Rhodes
LEX LUGER VS. CRUSH
IN YOUR HOUSE WORLD TITLE MATCH QUALIFIER
The next contest saw the returning Lex Luger arriving to the arena with much fan fare in his Lex Express. Today wouldn't be an easy day however for Luger as he was challenging Crush, who's been dominating the WWF as of late.
The match began with a strength test. Crush had the upperhand early but Luger began to over power him as the fans went crazy. Crush, feeling insulted, sent a hard knee to the midsection of Luger, breaking the strength test and sending Luger to his knees.
Later on in the match after both men beat the living hell out of each other, Crush got the upperhand again and lifted Luger up with a huge vertical suplex followed by a pin attempt for a two count. Crush called for the end and grabbed Luger's head but Luger quickly dropped down, and rolled behind Crush.
Crush turned around confused only to be caught by a running forearm from Luger stunning the big man but not knocking him down. Luger seeing the opportunity lifted Crush up in an amazing display of strength and locked in the Torture Rack, securing his victory in his first match back! Your winner - Lex Luger.
WINNER BY SUBMISSION: Lex Luger
Todd Pettengill, pole with a US flag attached to it in his hands, waves it around in celebration of Lex Luger's win.
Todd Pettengill: (singing) For the land of the freeeeeeeeeeee.... and the homeeeeeee of theeeeee braveeeeeeeeee!! Excuse my excitement, everyone, but The Lex Express has arrived in the WWF and THAT'S what I call kicking things off with a bang! Well, with that the first contestant is set for next Sunday night's In Your House Halloween night extravaganza, but we have three more spots to fill! Who will be joining Mr. Made in the USA himself? Well, stay tuned in to find out!
COMMERCIAL BREAK #2
TAZ VS. OWEN HART
IN YOUR HOUSE WORLD TITLE MATCH QUALIFIER
The next match of the morning started off on fire as Taz caught Owen in a belly to belly and transitioned into a headlock, trying to wear down his opponent. Owen fought out of it though and attempted a back suplex of his own, which Taz countered into a neckbreaker.
Later in the match after a series of back and forth wrestling holds, both superstars were worn out. Owen took the advantage with his signature enziguri and began to pummel away on a downed Taz. Raising his arms in the air to signify his dominance before attempting to lock in the sharpshooter, which Taz was able to roll out of.
The end of the match came after a brawl on the outside of the ring as Owen and Taz would trade blow for blow. Taz attempted to slam Owen's head into the steel steps, but Owen blocked it and returned the favor before rolling into the ring. Once inside the ring we'd see Owen distract the ref while the Anvil picked Taz up and piledrived him on the outside! Anvil rolled Taz in the ring and Owen grabbed his legs and locked in the Sharpshooter, Taz having no choice but to tap. Your winner - "The Rocket" Owen Hart.
WINNER BY SUBMISSION: Owen Hart
BRIAN PILLMAN VS. HULK HOGAN
IN YOUR HOUSE WORLD TITLE MATCH QUALIFIER
In the next exciting contest of the morning fans of the WWF went crazy as Hulk Hogan squared off against Brian Pillman. Pillman used speed early in the match and tried to outmanuever Hogan. A quick drop kick to the legs knocked Hogan down and Pillman began to drop a series of elbows across the back of Hogan.
The Hulkster never one to stay down soon fought back and laid into Pillman with a series of right hands followed by an irish whip and a huge back body drop. Pillman cried in pain and rolled to the outside of the ring.
Hogan followed and Pillman was able to sneak in an eye rake before slamming Hogan's head into the guard rail and rolling him back into the ring. Pillman climbed the ropes and pulled off a beautiful top rope leg drop, almost mocking Hogan with it.
The leg drop was the deal breaker however and Hogan bounced right up and began his famous psych-up. Pillman tried to curb it with punches but Hogan blocked them, pointed at Pillman as the fans chanted YOUUUUU and began to lay into Pillman with more right hands.
The end came with the irish whip and the big boot. Hogan with the leg drop and the cover as the fans chanted loudly along with the ref OOOONNNE TWWWWOOOOOO THHHHRREEEEEEE! The arena went crazy as Real American began to play. Your winner - Hulk Hogan.
WINNER BY PINFALL: Hulk Hogan
COMMERCIAL BREAK #3
We return from commercial break to join Todd again after two huge, highly competitive bouts featuring four of the absolute best in the world.
Todd Pettengill: Welcome back everyone, and what a couple of matches those were, huh?! Taz and Owen Hart brought the house down with a close one, "The Rocket" able to turn his lock around and punch his ticket to the WWF World Title match! But I don't see Taz tucking his tail and running back to Philadelphia here, if I know "The Human Suplex Machine" he will be back at In Your House with a vengeance! Then a highly impressive debut for Brian Pillman as he took the Hulkster to the brink but barely fell short to the red and yellow. So that means three of the four spots in the In Your House main event are set! Lex Luger, Owen Hart, Hulk Hogan... but who will be the fourth man? Let's take you back down to ringside for our main event to find out! It's "The Excellence of Execution" versus "Mr. Saturday Morning" and that match starts NOW!
BRET HART VS. ROB VAN DAM
IN YOUR HOUSE WORLD TITLE MATCH QUALIFIER
The MAIN EVENT of the morning featured the big brother of Owen, The Hit Man himself as he returned to the World Wrestling Federation to take on Rob Van Dam.
Bret showed early on why they call him the "excellence of execution" as he took RVD to school with a drop toe hold, then transitioned into a headlock, then transitioned into a standing position before following up with a running bulldog.
Late in the match RVD was able to mount a comeback after a bicycle kick and a beautiful top rope drop kick. With Bret Hart down, RVD called for the end and went to the top for his Five Star Frogsplash, but Bret rolled out of the way causing RVD to hit the mat hard. Bret tried to cover for the win but got a two count.
Bret was able to get RVD up and pulled off an atomic drop and attempted to follow it up with a clothesline but RVD ducked it and sent Bret down with a spinning heel kick. RVD then bounced off the ropes and came down on Bret hard with his exciting Rolling Thunder. He went for the cover but only got a one count. RVD couldn't believe the resiliency of The Hit Man.
The end came soon after as RVD made a grave mistake in attempting a running drop kick on a dazed Bret. Bret, ever the ring general, was able to scout it even while being hurt, and caused RVD to miss, falling backwards onto his back. Bret took advantage, grabbed his legs, and wasted no time locking in the Sharpshooter. RVD had nowhere to go in the middle of the ring, and soon tapped out. Your winner - Bret "The Hit Man" Hart!
WINNER BY SUBMISSION: Bret Hart
We cut back to Titan Towers studio with Todd Pettengill as none other than the WWF President himself walks into view and stands next to Todd.
Gorilla Monsoon: Excuse me for interrupting Todd but I have news that just couldn't wait. You see as we move closer to our big In Your House Halloween event we said to ourselves "What can make this night TRULY a night remember" and that light bulb went off brighter than a thousand suns.
Todd's face lights up with anticipation as Monsoon continues.
Gorilla Monsoon: Fans of the World Wrestling Federation it's my pleasure to announce that the Fatal Four Way for the WWF Championship WILL NOT be the only four way of the night!
Todd Pettengill: WHAT?
Moonsoon smirks and continues...
Gorilla Monsoon: You heard me correctly! We are going to have a SECOND Fatal Four Way and this one will be to determine our NEW INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION! and the participants? The losers of today's qualifiers...oh and it's a LADDER match!
Monsoon looks at Todd and smiles before looking back at the camera.
Gorilla Monsoon: Oh and by the way, and WWF title Fatal Four Way? well, we went ahead and made that a CAGE MATCH! THAT'S how the World Wrestling Federation does it! Happy Halloween everybody, and see you at In YOUR House!
Without a further word Gorilla Monsoon shakes Todd's hand and walks out of view, leaving Todd staring at the camera mouth wide open in shock at the news.
Todd Pettengill: Did... did he just say what I think he did? TWO fatal four way matches and TWO titles up for grabs next Sunday night?! And not only that, but one is a ladder match and the other... in a STEEL CAGE?! Whew! Ladies and gentlemen, there really were no losers here tonight... well, except for Steve Austin and Raven as they were put on the shelf indefinitely. In Your House is shaping up to be one of the greatest professional wrestling events in history and you can't miss it! You've gotta grab that telephone right now and hit up your local cable or satellite television provider and let them know you've gotta see IN YOUR HOUSE, LIVE THIS HALLOWEEN NIGHT! Thank you so much for joining us again this morning, we won't be here next Saturday as we prepare for the big pay per view the next night, but I'll see you back right here on the USA Network two weeks from now! Take care, everyone!
Pettengill waves goodbye to everyone as the show fades to black.
