WWF Superstars: Vader vs. Bret Hart Recap

The show opens as a graphic of an American Flag waves across the screen and wraps around the posing WWF Champion, Lex Luger. Wrapping around his biceps as he poses, the shape of Luger’s biceps perfectly fits and transforms into the WWF Superstars logo! The scene then transitions from the logo to a shot of the audience before moving down to our announcers for the evening, Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler standing by with microphone in hand.

Vince McMahon: “Good evening, everyone, and welcome to the WWF Superstars of Wrestling! My name is Vince McMahon, and tonight I will be joined by Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler! We are very happy to join you on the Eve of WWF In Your House Two, Seasons Beatings! Before tomorrow night’s fantastic program, we have a great show for you! We will see our NEW Television Champion face off against Big Van Vader for the Television Championship!”

Jerry Lawler: “That’s right, McMahon! Monday Night Raw saw that two-bit thief Bret Hart somehow STEAL the Television Championship! So tonight, in the gracious arms of justice, THAT Gorilla finely did something right and gave Vader the shot HE DESERVES!”

Vince McMahon: “Will you STOP! You could not be more wrong about anything involving this situation! You and I both know after Monday Night RAW, we caught up to Bret Hart and he explained the story! In fact, fans, we are going to take you back to that interview!”

The fans are mixed at the reception of Bret’s name. It isn’t as venomous as it was on Monday towards the Hitman, there are a few more cheers, however it is still very loudly against Bret. Jerry looks nervous as Vince mentions the pre-recorded video as it is obvious, Jerry was caught in his lie. The scene cuts to a backstage shot with Gene Okerlund and an exhausted looking Bret Hart in front of a WWF RAW backdrop. Hart is drenched from his match and surviving the eight-man Battle Royal and has the championship belt loosely wrapped around his shoulder.

Gene Okerlund: “Ladies and gentlemen, I am here with the winner of tonight’s Battle Royal, and the FIRST inaugural World Wrestling Federation Television Champion - Bret ‘THE HITMAN’ Hart!”

Bret nods as his name is said as he is appreciative of the respectful introduction.

Gene Okerlund: “Now, Bret, let us first start with what is on the forefront of everyone’s minds. It was back in October when you were the FIRST World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion. Now, it has been beaten to death for you these last few weeks, even tonight the fans were cheering Hulk Hogan over you during your OWN theme song! It is obvious these fans haven’t forgotten what you did during that Fatal Four Way Cage match. We all remember the cheating that occurred that night with Owen letting you walk out as champion and what you two did following weeks, so I won’t dwell on that now. What I will ask though is after that night you refused to defend your championship until you were basically forced to when Lex and Hulk beat you and your brother, Owen Hart. Bret, when will you be willing to defend this Television Championship?”

Gene moves the microphone to Bret for his answer.

Bret Hart: “Well first, Gene, I want to say I will NEVER forget how low I got during that time. I am constantly motivated to be the BEST from the slack I had when I let that forked tongue SNAKE scheme me and my brother, Owen, into that ploy. You’re right though, there is no reason to sit here and whine and complain about the past. It’s over, it happened, and I have changed. If the World Wrestling Federation fans needs time to see that, I understand. You see, tonight, I faced seven of the GREATEST wrestlers in the World Wrestling Federation! I said before the match that every man had the talent to walk out with this prestigious World Wrestling Federation Television Championship! However, tonight I was the better man! This Championship PROVES I was what I promised to MY fans! I was a TRUE Champion tonight, Gene! But it isn’t a one-time promise, this doesn’t just fade after tonight falling back into the lulls of laziness like I did! No, ‘Mean’ Gene, that promise is good for the rest of my life in Professional Wrestling! I will be a TRUE Champion and be the HERO these people deserve! I will PROVE every night I am the BEST THERE IS, the BEST THERE WAS, and the BEST THERE EVER WILL BE! So that means, Saturday at Superstars? Anyone wants to take their shot at the Hitman? I’m an easy man to find! Sunday at In Your House? Take a swing! But you better execute! Monday Night RAW? GIVE IT YOUR BEST SHOT! Because the fact is, after the match, if you don’t, at the end of the night, I will SHOW every opponent why I AM the EXCELLENCE OF EXECUTION and walk away STILL the World Wrestling Federation TELEVISION CHAMPION!”

Bret Hart wipes the sweat from his eyes as he walks away from the camera shot. Gene lifts his microphone back to him as the camera zooms in on Gene’s upper body as he closes the interview.

Gene Okerlund: “WELL THERE YOU HAVE IT! Bret Hart, wanting to prove his fighting spirit, if you will, is open to all challengers for the World Wrestling Federation Television Championship!”

The scene cuts from Gene and back to the ring as the first match of the show starts.

We catch back up with Superstars as we see the ring in a wide shot camera angle. Howard Finkel standing in the ring with microphone in hand.

Vince McMahon: “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to WWF Superstars, and it is now TIME for the Main Event! And fans, earlier tonight, Gorilla Monsoon announced regardless of the winner of this match – the winner will go on to face THE UNDERTAKER at In Your House! The Undertaker, despite suffering from injuries, has DEMANDED to wrestle tomorrow night!”

Jerry Lawler: “It’s TIME alright! IT’S VADER TIME! After he dispatches Hart, he’ll go toss the Deadman back in the grave he came out of!”

Howard Finkel: “Ladies and gentlemen, it is now time for your Main Event of the evening! The following contest will be scheduled for one-fall, and it is for the World Wrestling Federation Television Championship!”

Vader’s music immediately hits as the crowd react in very vocal boos. His effect on the people across the arena is vocalized and has increased following the damage he did to the beloved Undertaker Monday Night. The camera cuts to show the ramp way awaiting Vader’s arrival.

Vince McMahon: “I don’t know about Vader being so easily able to take out the Hitman tonight, King! But nonetheless, it is TIME! Vader, the behemoth of a man, the MASTADON, has made a certain impact on the World Wrestling Federation! He has damaged many men and even stopped the Deadman! That is a feat we have yet to see so far here in the World Wrestling Federation!”

Jerry Lawler: “If he stopped the Undertaker, he would have NO PROBLEM BREAKING and SNAPPING that COWARD, Bret Hart!”

A suspicious amount of time passes from the start of Vader’s music, and nothing happens. No one comes out from the back and the music just continues to play.

Vince McMahon: “What- What is going on? Where is Vader?!”

Some more time passes before a referee comes rushing from the back and signals for help. The crowd are in a mixed response as they have quieted down but there are still hints of booing and cheering throughout the audience. The referee who was at ringside for the match begins sprinting up the ramp as our view cuts backstage. The camera man is running towards the scene where we see Vader and Harley Race looming over Bret Hart! Bret is already down on the ground as Vader has a hand full of hair and is using his other arm to club the upper back, shoulder, and neck of Bret Hart! We can tell now that Vader’s music has stopped playing within the arena as we can hear the crowd now live cheering and booing this outcome!

Vader: “BEST, HUH?!”

Vader laughs for a moment before picking Bret up and chucking him into the camera man! Our vision cuts to static for just a few seconds before another camera man is arriving to the scene from a different angle. We see Bret holding his ribs with the broken camera right next to him and the camera man down beside that! Vader again laughs as he picks the camera up and slams it into Bret’s ribs!

Vader: “YOU DON’T SEEM LIKE THE BEST TO ME, BOY!”

Vader does this one more time as Bret screams out in agonizing pain probably resulting from broken ribs. Vader drops what is left of the camera on Bret’s ribs before again picking Bret up in a deadlift and easily chucking Bret over Vader’s shoulder. He gets in a slight football stance before running full force into the wall next to them! Bret screams out as he drops immediately to the ground in a thud. More and more staff are now arriving to stop Vader as they begin surrounding the Monster.

Pat Patterson: “That’s ENOUGH, VADER!”

Earl Hebner: “COME ON! STOP THIS!”

As the men all begin yelling at Vader to stop, Harley lights his cigar up next to Vader. A smile on Harley’s face turns to a frown as the camera quickly turns back to show Bret slowly rising to his feet. With broken shades and a now ripped jacket, Bret signals with his hands for Vader to bring on more. The Hitman yells back at Vader!

Bret Hart: “IS THAT ALL YOU GOT, VADER?! YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE A MONSTER! COME ON!”

To anyone watching this, they can tell all that is holding up Bret is his own willpower. Any merciful man would let the Hitman go, but just like a raging bull, Vader charges through the entire group of staff! Vader picks Bret up one more time and slams Bret into the wall! This time not releasing Bret, he moves quickly back and charges back into the wall! Bret immediately drops down to the ground holding his ribs as he’s now completely downed to his side in a fetal position. More staff comes as Gorilla himself joins them! All of them getting between Vader and Bret and many pushing Vader and Harley away from the area, Gorilla assesses the situation before telling one of the staff he will go down to the ring with his decision on this situation. The camera cutting to a commercial break.

As the scene returns from commercial, Gorilla Monsoon stands in the middle of the ring with microphone in hand.

Gorilla Monsoon: “Ladies and gentlemen, it has been decided following the horrendous actions of Vader and Harley Race tonight; as well as their actions on Monday Night RAW, that Vader will be escorted from the arena! Vader and Harley Race will further be banned from the arena tomorrow night at In Your House! Their situation will then be further evaluated at Monday Night RAW! For you people here tonight, unfortunately, Bret Hart will be unable to wrestle. Our medical personnel have determined that Bret Hart will be unable to wrestle tonight due to what is immediately appearing like broken ribs. However, like the Undertaker following Monday Night RAW – Bret Hart INSISTS wrestling tomorrow night! We will see this Sunday at In Your House TWO, Seasons Beatings, Bret ‘The HITMAN’ Hart versus ‘the Deadman’ The UNDERTAKER for the Television Championship! With that said, tonight our main event will be changed from our scheduled contest. So, may I introduce our first competitor for our new Main Event tonight – “
